By this stage I had pretty much heard all the songs from the new album, from a previous night in Dublin or watching youtube clips. I had the pleasure of seeing Ryley, for the 3rd time, on Tuesday night in Leamington Spa. I tried to post here the other day but seems it didn't go through. Catch him where you can and enjoy the best release of 2016! But when I asked him about it he said it was on ANOTHER record he cut (quite recently after this, but he doesn't know when, even IF it will see the light of day because he's not sure he likes the end product. And possibly my favourite song by Ryley so far, which he has been playing live for a while now (in the link), still yet to receive a name, isn't on Golden Sings. As a sidenote he also discussed how he and Charles Rumback have just cut another record (any of you lucky to get their RSD release will know who I mean). As for the new record, the reviews coming out are nothing but enormous praise. I'm already trying my best to plan the next time I see him, considering a weekend in Europe and catching him somewhere different. He did look a little worse for wear, but I guess that's his relentless touring taking its toll. Also played Clear The Sky from his debut and a cover of Tim Hardin's 'If I Were A Carpenter'. He played nearly, if not every song from the new album, the favourites from PG - title track, Old Kishwaukee and Summer Dress. I think having Leroy Bach for producer has been wonderful for this record.

The songs are much less jammy and free and much more refined. He was solo, no band or Norwegian guys with him, and he was still brilliant! I believe this album is a big step up from Primrose Green, probably my favourite album from the last couple of years so that is saying something. Very appreciative of his fans and a real down to earth guy, he gave me a free t shirt and we enjoyed a beer. While the warm up acts were on I got to chat with him, and what was fantastic is that he remembered both previous times I saw him.
